No more Loreen! Chanel’s ‘SloMo’ new number one in ‘ESC 250’
All votes have been counted and all 250 songs have been played at ESCRadio as the 2022 edition of the Eurovision Top 250 draws to a close. 2023 starts with a major surprise for Eurovision fans as Loreen’s Euphoria no longer tops the list. Rather, Chanel’s SloMo, which landed Spain third place at Eurovision 2022, takes the crown. Songfestival.be releases the top 500 ranking of the 2022 vote on January 1st, 2023.
Nothing lasts forever. Ever since winning the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, Loreen ended up as the number one of the ESC 250 every consecutive year. Throughout some years, it became harder and harder for Loreen to defend her top spot. This year, she was defeated for the very first time. Supported by a big group of Spanish fans and after receiving votes from all over Europe and beyond, SloMo by Chanel is the new number one of the Eurovision Top 250.
On January 1st, the full list of songs that finished in the top 500, will be published on our website. For now, take a look at the top 10 of the 2022 edition:
- Chanel – SloMo (Spain 2022)

More popular than ever before
Since Songfestival.be in 2017 stepped in as the organiser of the ESC 250 vote, the list gained popularity every year. Not only have we received more valid votes (this year more than 10,000!), even on social media the buzz reached new levels. Especially on Twitter the list is a hot topic with the hashtag #esc250 trending in several countries every year.
