No ‘Barbara Dex Award 2020’ due to cancelled Eurovision

The Barbara Dex Award, our annual online vote for the most remarkable stage outfit of the past Eurovision edition, will not take place in 2020.

The cancellation of this years’ Eurovision Song Contest inevitably means that no stage outfits will be presented from the Rotterdam Ahoy Arena. Hence, our search for the most remarkable one cannot take place this year. We will have to wait for an extra year to find out who will succeed Portugal’s Conan Osiris (pictured above), who topped least year’s online vote.

The Barbara Dex Award has been a staple of the online fandom of the Eurovision Song Contest since 1997. It was created to commemorate the self-designed dress worn by the 1993 Belgian representative Barbara Dex, who finished last in Millstreet, Ireland. Songfestival.be has been organising the online vote since 2017.

You can find all previous winners of the Award at our dedicated page. Notably, Portugal, North Macedonia and Serbia have each won the Award twice thus far, with twenty different countries having topped the vote across its history.
